If the Divine Creator actually loved me, he's gift me with one of those. I mean Yoko, not simply the DVD! Thanks Z!

It seems that the stores around me don't really have any idea of what release date means: first they as they put out Matsugane Yoko's box set Tentai Box four days before it's release, and now Perfect Collection 2 three days before. Oh well - I guess I reap the benefits. More screen caps for Yoko-chan fans. Review will be posted in the usual place. Yoko's usually pretty entertaining, but this is definately one of the worst Yoko releases I've ever seen.

Don't mind me. Just passing through.

bwahhhh!

Damn it! There goes that backwards name thing again!
So is her name Yoko, or is it Matsugane? When Tom Cruise goes to Japan, do they call him Cruise Tom? I need answers damn it. I WANT THE TRUTH! Help us Gwen Stefani, you're our only hope!
Either way, she (Yoko?!?!) is absolutley magnificent. I especially like the center square, or as I call it, "Jim J. Bullock for the win".
I saw a few clips of her; I do find her voice to be a bit grating and irritating. Reminds me of Starscream.

Although, it has been well documented that Giant-Robots-Bent-On-World-Domination are the natural enemies of Seemingly-Helpless-Blind-Men-Who-Are-Surprising-Deadly-With-A-Sword (much like coyotes and roadrunners), I'll say that this is just a quirk of mine... after having heard the natives order the family name first for so many years, it just sounds really wrong to me to hear something like Yoko Matsugane. So if you read any of my posts, you can generally assume the give name is last.

And for the record, foreign names (well, western ones, anyways) are generally ordered given name first. So the sentence "Gwen Stefani-san wa Matsuagane Yoko-san o kisu shite imasu" would not be unusal (Gwen Stefani is kissing Yoko Matsugane).

bwaahhh!

It's not unusual for Gwen Stefani to kiss beautiful, busty Japanese models!
Japan truly is a society entrenched in great culture.

Its a well documented fact that Idols have their nipples surgically removed for aesthetic bikini wearing abilility skillz. Its true. Honest, guvnor.

Isnt Yoko working with a new production company now? maybe thats why her new DVD isnt so good. I havent seen it in London yet - may not be out here for a while.

I was actually thinking of picking up the Tentai box set sometime soon, what makes it so bad, Zatoichi-san?  If it's truly one of the worst she's done, I just may have to curb that impulse buy afterall.

Thanks for your continual insight on J-pop matters,

Having just received Tentai Box, I must respectfully disagree with Zatoichi on that one.  I thought
that the Tentai Box Special DVD, the only new release in this box set, was outstanding–one of
the best Yoko DVDs yet.  Bear in mind that I-one likes these special box sets because they can
charge twice as much for releasing only one new disk, but the thing is, the “extra” footage
contained in the “special DVD” is from the same vignettes as in the two prior releases in each set.
In this case, that means more of a good thing (while Tsuki no Kodo left me a little disappointed, I
thought Taiyo no Yakudo was highly underrated) as it essentially compiles more footage from the
best vignettes from the two DVDs.    If you recall, Taiyo had some impressive sequences of Yoko
in some striking 2-piece bikinis, including running around scenes, and a gorgeous one-piece green
number with an unzippable, plunging neckline.  The Special DVD features a lot more of this,
AND has more of Yoko in that dazzling white outfit we see at the conclusion of Tsuki.  So that’s
an A+ to I-one for making the right calls as to what to include in the companion disk.  In reality,
Tsuki and Taiyo (which were released on the same day) both seemed like halves of some greater
whole when they are viewed separately, so this Special DVD feels much more satisfying.  All in
all, I’d rate Tsuki and Taiyo near the middle of the list of Yoko DVD releases to date, but I’d put
the Tentai Special DVD near the top.

Hey Great Teacher! Haven't seen you around in a while. Anyways, I didn't express myself clearly above....

Tentai Box is very good, well worth picking up if you're a Yoko fan, with the caveat that it comes with both Taiyo no Yakudo and Tsuki no Kodo (which are both excellent, if typical, Yoko DVDs in their own right), so if you already own both those, the Special DVD included with the box set is not worth picking up on it's own, as it is just more clips from the same - not really worth the price of two duplicate DVDs just for a new one. Although Special DVD is just more clips from the same shoot as Taiyo and Tsuki, it is very well done - I would say I like the Special DVD more than either of her previous releases included with the box set. The only complaint (and I mean only complaint) I have about the Special DVD is the music choice in one scene: Yoko is lounging around looking seductive and some idiot in the background is rapping "I'm a motherfucking gangster". Rap. The C is silent. If you've got both Tsuki and Taiyo, give the box set a pass, but if you don't have either, or only one of the two, don't even think about it: get it! Tentai Box is easily my favorite Yoko release so far, eclipsing my previous favorite Nagomi!

Perfect Collection 2 OTOH is a huge mess, which is disappointing considering that Perfect Collection was a good DVD. I had to look a long time on the DVD before I did the screen caps I posted. The camera work is horrible, the pacing is painfully slow, and music is mostly incongruous with the scenes. Plus whoever was doing Yoko's makeup in this one wasn't too skilled. Now, this is going to sound strange from someone on a big boob site, but it has to be said: too many boob shots. I'd say slightly over 50% of the entire DVD is just boobs - no face, no other parts of the body, just boobs. What's wrong with that, you may ask? The camera work has absolutely no subtlty, and it's just really generic: they could be any big boobed girl's boobs. I paid for Yoko, I want Yoko! And there's not even very much bouncing for so many boob shots. I will give the wardrobe department credit though... they finally put Yoko is some other clothes rather than just a bikini in every scene. Also, that picture in the middle of the screen caps I posted is an excellent scene, but one good scene out of the entire package does not a good DVD make. Save your money: pass on Perfect Collection 2.

Tell me about it: they're releaseing a Nemoto Harumi DVD next month (HaruMIX) which just looks like a compliation of stuff frokm her older i-One releases. Of course, since it's Nemo-chan, I'll be forking over the money anyways....
