I apologise if some of you think I have been harsh in my earlier comments regarding Linsey but I still stand by the belief that she risks making a mockery of her fantastic career if she attempts a comeback. Sorry, but that's how I feel. Yes, I take on board the view that her current activities only go to show how wonderful her previous years have been, but it still cannot be denied that attempting to relaunch herself will also have the negative impact of devaluing her glory years.
For me, such an action would be akin to a once great sporting icon stepping onto the field of play one last time to prove a point, only to fail miserably. Remember what happened to Mike Tyson? An undisputable great in his field during his prime years, yet a sad, fallen shadow of his former self when he attempted several comebacks. Such an occurence is not only sad for the individual in question, but also for the fans who really don't want to see it happen. The past is the past, it was glorious but move on. I'm not comparing Iron Mike and Linsey as individuals, as they are vastly different with contrasting factors at play, but I do feel the basic circumstances are similar. To see those whom were icons in their chosen field attempt comebacks in later years when they are clearly past their best is something which is extremely painful to watch. I really am thinking of Linsey too. She should have let it be back in 2005 as she truly went out at the top of her career. Now, she really is a sad, pale imitation of her former self and I do believe she risks casting a dark shadow over her fantastic career!
