When people put slashes ("/") in text that is likely to get saved to disk as part of a file or folder name, such as in thread names, subject (model) names, etc... I dunno what kind of OS they use, but most every one I've ever used does NOT allow the slash character in a file or folder name of course.

Yes, of course people saving the image, etc... can and do manually edit the text in their Save As dialog, but fer petesake... we ALL use computers (many of us for decades now) so which makes more sense: the uploader/poster avoiding the slash (and other commonly-prohibited characters such as backslash, colon, etc...) ONE TIME or the next HUNDRED people each having to manually edit the text string when they're saving?

Spaces have been allowed in filenames in OSes for ages now (thank goodness) so there's no need to replace them with underscores as we did in the early days, but come on: using a slash?  

PS: I've already ranted about how I detest iOS remaing every uploaded image filename to "image.jpg" so I won't bother going into that here, but rest assured, that still annoys the hell out of me too.  

PPS: while I'm venting my annoyance, the fact that the best post I ever made in this forum (IMO, of the almost 22,000 so far, not counting the additional 1,700+ I lost in the wayback forum crash) garnered little or no feedback is fairly irksome too. I'm too irked to even link to it here atm... but it was an artful post that took a lot of time to compose and format and I suspect that I know how it feels to be a morpher who doesn't get the feedback he anticipates after posting his (or her) work.

PPPS: and finally, while I'm bitching, let me say that "travel size" mice annoy me. It's a good idea, those 2/3rds-scale mice, but they *never* fall comfortably to hand like a full-size mouse, not even the expensive ones. My hands are merely average-sized, but I always feel like a clumsy giant when I palm one of those tiny mice. Give me a regular (normal-sized) entry-level wireless mouse from HP or Logitech any day... the moment you use them for any interface-intensive editing (of images or text) you are reminded just how crappy tiny mice are in comparison, along with touch screens, track pads, etc... all pale in comparison to the comfort, speed and control you get with a regular mouse IMO.

I put this down to the fact that the thread was started in 2002 and therefore pre-dates the infamous Forum Fastapazool. It's the work of half a second to paste the complete thread title back, but it still is fairly annoying.

Some part of me wants to be petulant and not draw attention to this post: http://forum.bearchive.com/index.php/topic,9984697.msg10117252.html#msg10117252 ...but there you have it. It's my best post ever in my opinion, an opinion that I'm positive few others, if any, will share.

Some of the links are probably broken by now, but each highlighted song title is a link to the relevant video at Youtube, and (of course) all the songs are by just one group ..I used to be a Elastica fan (I still like 'em, but not with the youthful fervor I used to bring to bear).

It took a fair bit of writing/editing to make that post, with all that stuff, and still have it convey my sincere advice to the user who started that thread.

I am so tired of when someone posts an opinion online on an issue that does not go along with the majority and that person gets ganged up on by the majority.I’m not talking about someone posting insults or anything to do with the forum.I’m talking about everything in general.No one is allowed to have their own opinion anymore unless it is the majority.
