Indeed I am. I don't think you have roundabouts in the US do you? Or at least nowhere near as many as there are in the UK.

Mod edit: I'm pretty sure I recall seeing some in New Jersey when I was a k1d. Not sure if they're still there. -Pal

Oh, boy!

Roundabouts: various cities use them. In my area neither Seattle nor Tacoma uses them, but Olympia does.

Darts: No one outside of Britain gives a damn. Like American football here.

Junction: We call them "intersections".

Bin: We call it "trash", not to be confused with Romney voters, who are "white trash".

I believe Mr. Churchill noted that we are one people, divided by a common language.
Someday, chi1dren, this entire fuck-up will be yours.

It's also very popular in the Netherlands.

When driving on the interstate, two 18 wheelers, one going 65 mph and one going 65.01 mph and the one going 65.01 mph decides to "Pass" the other and rides in the left lane for 20-something miles trying to "Pass" the "Slower" truck, never speeding up to get on around and never touching their cruise control, thereby backing up most 70 mph+ traffic for MILES!  Who forgot to teach the truckers that most states have "Slower Traffic Keep Right" laws...

That burns me also. What about the morons who decide that they really, really, really NEED to be in your lane and just do it and suddenly merge ?  >:(  No turn signal, no nuthin' !  >:( Happens here a lot. Of course, it seems like tailgating must be the law in Nevada since so many assholes do it.   >:(  And then you have the pricks who drive with their high lights on ALL THE FUCKING TIME so they can see while blinding you.  >:( Makes perfect sense ! One thing that makes me sad and does annoy me because it is so unnecessary and tragic is that the jackrabbits here are stupid and have the nasty habit of running toward your car at night and getting squished.  :( I know the coyotes don't mind since they like roadkill. It's easy to catch and requires little effort.  ;D

People in the self-checkout lines who don't wait for you to bag your groceries before they start sending their stuff down the conveyor.

Would you believe it happened to me TWICE tonight?

I'm in the 12 Items or Less lane (since I only have 11 items). Even before I can open a bag to put my stuff in, the woman behind me is sending her two things down at me. Then she has the gall to come down, grab her stuff, and move past me as I'm bagging! To put the icing on the cake, the guy after her starts sending his stuff down before I'm done!

The ground is deep with fallen leaves and nuts of White and Red Oak, and of Beech, that line and fill the footprints and the ruts which all along the wooded pathway reach. First claim, of course, to chipmunk and to squirrel for bleak mid-Winter sustenance belongs, as all around old leaves descend and twirl about, through feathered autumn songs.

They have them in the Boston area.  They're literally one of the rings of Hell.

Crappy TV adverts.

Darts players who look towards the camera like they've done something amazing. Mate, you've thrown pointy things at a BOARD, you haven't run the London Marathon!

People who don't indicate at roundabouts.

Reality TV contenders who try to use their appearance on a show as a short-cut to fame.

People who speed up their car on their way to a junction, then brake sharply when they get there.

People who drop litter on the ground despite the fact there is a bin close to hand.

People who can't control their dogs, I can't think of the number of times when out running that I have nearly tripped over some bloody dog!

This is great, salem.  You've used a Britishism in nearly every example you've cited!  I love it!  ;D

There are a couple that I was unfamiliar with (in bold, below), or just never paid enough attention to before to have it stand out to me:

1) "People who don't indicate at roundabouts."

"People who don't indicate what at roundabouts?" I wanted to say.  :P  Americanisms are much less interesting, I think.  We would say: "People who don't signal at traffic-circles".  How dull.  I, personally, prefer "roundabout" to traffic-circle (both as a manner of speech and as a traffic-flow method: we only have a few on the Island and they make things so less annoying).  The term "roundabout" just sounds quaint, whereas "traffic-circle" sounds like a bureaucrat described exactly what his soul-less existence saw.

(by the way, I also find that annoying, but I would expand it to say "People who don't use their signals, EVER"  :)

2)"People who speed up their car on their way to a junction, then brake sharply when they get there."

Yeah, I was unaware of use of "junction" instead of "intersection".  Americans use "junction" for where roads meet on a map, usually, or in directions on a traffic sign: "Junction 495, 3 miles".  That sort of thing.  But then, most of you already know this, of course.  :P :)

I believe Mr. Churchill noted that we are one people, divided by a common language.

I thought it was Patton.  :P

Actually, some do attribute it to Churchill, 'though George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde are also often cited.

Personally I prefer the German "Verkerkreutze", 'cuz it sounds like it has more authority.  ::)

When I go into a Subway by myself and buy 2 or 3 footlong subs and the cashier asks me "Is that for here or to go?"
Like please, tell me you are not that stupid!
Yesterday,I was watching Headline news and they previewed a story on that huge Mako shark that was caught in Florida. They said the story was coming up.Well,I waited 20 minutes and still no shark story and I said screw it and changed the channel. When they state a story is coming up I expect it in the next 10 minutes and not sometime in the next hour.

I have a friend (in real life) who manages a Subway. She said it's required as part of their training because of all customers who buy two or more sandwiches, about 1/3 eat them all on the spot.

^What if you were coming in to order for others who had not yet arrived and you all wanted to eat in the subway?

Personally, I usually get a Metrocard and ride the trains in the subway. :P

When you get a TV advert that says 'It's the song/tv show/movie EVERYONE is talking about'

That really bugs me. Unless you have actually asked EVERYONE how can you say EVERYONE is talking about something!

Also when someone says that a person is 'Everyone's favourite comedian/singer/actor/soccer player'. Sorry? Did you ask me?, he/she ain't my favourite, therefore they ain't EVERYONES favourite!

That's like how they advertise a movie/record/show as being a 'hit' before it's actually been released yet, going by (I assume) previews, test audiences, advance sales or something. -Pal
