I saw this photo and it brought back a bad memory. Back in 1969, I was riding my bicycle, and at the time I was living in Mexico City, and I turned right into the street I lived at from the main avenue, and I suffered a front tire flat, and I kept going straight and I slammed onto a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda on the driver side front fender and dented it. It broke the frame of my bicycle and the man whose vehicle I slammed into was very upset. We walked to my house nearby and he talked to my father and I explained what happened and my Dad and that man figured out what to do and I never got a replacement bike until my older brother moved out of the house and I appropriated his bike. The Barracuda was the Chrysler corporation answer to the Mustang by Ford and the Camaro by Chevrolet. It was a a high performance car which died in the 1970's due to the Arab oil embargo, government regulations and high Insurance rates. This vehicle is the same style and color of the one I hit.

I actually like the back end more than the front.  The back end looks cool and classic to me, even now, while the front end looks dated, like another 50s sci-fi attempt.

My dream car back in my highschool days was a Buick GrandNational.  Not as glamorous as some of the concept cars in this thread but something that had it's own allure for that era.  They had always been just out of reach on the used market as I started working.  Well a few years ago I managed to finally pull together the cash, timing and the right car and bought one.  Like anything it lives up to the moniker of never meet your hero    as it's not nearly as fast as a modern car.  1987 was not a hotbed of super high performance vehicles when you look back on it these days.  It has been a fun car though and still gets the looks when I take it out for a drive.

One of the most iconic American cars, the 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. This was the 3rd generation which was produced from 1968 to 1982 and initially it came with a big block 427 cubic inch engine with a six-pack carburetor, dual exhaust, 390 horsepower, all disc brakes (only luxury and sports car were so made) and fully independent suspension. It was the 1970 model that had the 454 cubic inch engine with 450 horsepower. Of course, due to regulations and fuel standards, the big block engines went away. I was 12 years old when this model first came out, but I've always wanted one. Unfortunately, I can't afford it.  A truly beautiful car.

If you are of a certain age, this was an ubiquitous sight in American and Canadian cities, a Checker Cab. Picture is of the last one in New York City driven in 1999. It was based on a defunct American car, Packard, which went bankrupt in 1957.

There was a time when ALL the cabs in NYC were Checker Marathons.  Great tanks, especially with the fold down jump seats in the back. I remember reading that if you wanted to buy a pedestrian version, that door handles were optional. LOL

It's just so funky and cool!  It's wonderful that so many of George Barris' creations are still around in mint condition.

George Barris with one of his best loved and popular creations, the Batmobile from the campy 60's show, Batman played by Adam West. I loved that show when I was a kid, and the movie was great at the time when I saw it then. Sad day when he died at 89 years of age on November of 2015.
