A car that my father almost bought, but my mother didn't want it, so dad bought the Chevy Malibu instead, the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. I never found out why my mom said no.

1935 Packard Super 8 Dual Cowl Phaeton by Dietrich.
Owned by Earl Rubenstein, who bought it in 1963 from Dorthy and John Boss. They bought it as a wedding gift to themselves from the Packard Motor Car Company on Michigan Avenue (automobile row) in Chicago.
It is powered by a 384.4 cu in, 6.3 liter with a Stromberg EE-23, in – line 8 cylinder, engine producing 150 hp and transferring that power through a 3-speed manual transmission with a Gear Vendor.
The number of 1935 Packard Super Eights produced was 1,600 of which eleven were Dual Cowl Phaeton Dietrichs. This one is number nine.

This is the 1970 Toronado which was the 2nd generation of the Toronado. These were great cars.

One of the most stylish American cars in the second half of the century, in my opinion.  I think the 1960s versions were a little better than the 1970s versions.

Back in the 70's, some of the most desirable classic cars by many folks was the 1955 -1957 Chevrolet Bel Air since it was the first Chevy that had the modern small block Chevy engine, and it was a good-looking car that the average guy could buy. It was the bestselling car of that era.

Yes, I would agree with that.  Back in the late 70s—maybe early 80s—I was thinking of buying a used one from ‘66 or ‘67.  I just thought they were so cool.  I had been driving a ‘76 Honda Civic and when I got behind the wheel of the Tornado I was like “Whoa!”  It was like sitting behind the deck of an aircraft carrier.  My mechanic had also warned me that the “knuckles” on the front wheel drive were prone to wear and could be a problem to replace.
I think that was when I bought either my ‘77 Civic or ‘75 CJ-5.  Not sure which.
