I have not watched it. I probably won't be able to watch it since it is on a streaming service. But has anyone seen Wonder Woman 1984 yet? The reviews have been...not so good.

It was not a terrible movie BUT it is a pale shadow of the first one which raised expectations so much and therefore it got panned. Gal Gadot did a good job with the disjointed script she was given and she looks great in the movie but then she is Gal Gadot and she looks great anyways. The movie could have been 20-30 minutes less if the editing had been better and that would have helped its pace in my opinion. It is still on the theaters here in Vegas and they do still have discounted tickets on Tuesday so why not see it there. There is so much room between theatergoers that the covid is not a big deal. I got tested again on the 8th of January and I am as clean as a whistle.  :)

Was Kristen Wiig good in it at least?

Yes, she looked good but she had to work on a script that left much to be desired.  :P

At the local Cinemark movies they are showing the Lords of The Ring trilogy and I'm seeing them for $4 a piece which is well worth it to me. Movies like that must be seen in cinema in order to truly appreciate the massive scope of the movies. Each one is three hours long so I'm seeing them in separate days. I saw the Fellowship of the Ring on  Monday, Tuesday I saw The Two Towers and today I'll see The Return of the King. Hard to believe that the first one came out in 2001 or 20 years ago. How time flies.  :P

It would be an adventure to see the entire trilogy at one sitting!

For curiosity sake I'll be going to see the new Tom and Jerry movie coming tomorrow and hope that it is not too politically correct. I'll see it on Tuesday during the $5 dollar show  and hope it is worth the time. I grew up seeing the old ones made by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera  at MGM during the 1940's and 50's when I was a k1d in the 60's on TV and I still believe that, along with the same time period ones made by Walt Disney and Warner Brothers, they remain by far the best quality and funniest cartoons ever made. My favorite of all remain the Wily E. Coyote and Roadrunner ones. They censor them now because they are too violent or so they say. Guess they are afraid k1ds nowadays will jump off a cliff or walk into a speeding truck.  ??? ::)

I was musing today that Song of the South needs to be remade. It's been all but disowned by Disney because of the "happy slaves on the plantation" crap in the framing around the tales.

But the stories in all that were originally collected by Joel Chandler Harris, a newspaper publisher who was an abolitionist before the Civil War and an advocate of racial equality afterwards. The actor who played Uncle Remus, James Baskett, was originally supposed to just voice one of the animated characters in the movie. But Walt Disney was so impressed with his talent that he hired him on the spot to play Uncle Remus. Baskett would later earn a special Academy Award for his performance.

The stories of Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox in the movie are important African-American folklore, and don't deserve to be forgotten.

So..... I'm thinking just keep the folklore, but change almost everything else.

Set in the 1930s, "Uncle" Remus is a sharecropper. Having no family, he lives alone and makes extra money doing odd handyman jobs (I see him as being like the Teddy character on Bob's Burgers) The two ch1ldr3n of the local landowner are generally ignored by their parents, so they hang out at Uncle Remus' place where they learn things about growing up and life in general. And hear his stories of playing against a Negro Leagues barnstorming team, seeing Lincoln Perry (better known as Stepin Fetchit) in a vaudeville review, etc.

And, with no descendants of his own, he "adopts" the landowner's young as his own, and tells them the Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox (et al.) stories as he learned them from his father, who heard them from his, who was told them by......

Hey, it's pretty slow in the office these days.....

I didn't know this about Yaphet Kotto who died yesterday at the age of 81:

"Kotto has said he turned down the role of Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back -- director Irvin Kershner asked Kotto to take the part after they teamed up for Raid on Entebbe. But Kotto declined because, he later said, "I wanted to get back down on Earth. I was afraid that if I did another space film after having done [Alien] then I'd be typed."

Instead, Kotto was looking for a performance film: Rather than join the Star Wars franchise, he spent months working with Robert Redford on the prison drama Brubaker."

Later this afternoon at 6 PM Pacific time, I'll be going to see The Ten Commandments  ( 1956 ) on the big screen at the Cinemark nearby. I've never seen it on the big screen, even though I've seen it on TV multiple times, so I'll be treating myself. Movies are so much better on the big screen especially those that are grand in scale like Lawrence of Arabia, Gone with the Wind, How the West was Won, Bullitt, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and more. So many people say " I'll see on TV " but believe me, the car chase in Bullitt is so much more impressive in the movie house. The Ten Commandments is 4 hours long but it does have an intermission so hopefully my bladder won't be giving me a hard time.  ;) ;D

Has anyone seen the new King Kong vs Godzilla movie?
The reviews seem to be you’ll love it or it sucks.I’ve heard the fight scenes are really good but the rest of the movie stinks but I haven’t seen it,yet.

You will be in for a treat. That is a film made for the widescreen. It's more than sixty years old but the parting of the Red Sea scene is still impressive.
