Okay, “Wednesday” on Netflix, is, at its core, a teen angst TV show, but I thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes, directed by Tim Burton (he did four of the season’s eight episodes).  Christina Ricci actually has a role as a central character—a Normie professor, Catherine Zeta-Jones still looks hot as Morticia, and Luis Guzman plays Gomez.  Worth a look.  I actually laughed out loud a few times. Great atmosphere.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the cast of National Treasure: Edge of History, the live-action series set for Disney+ inspired by the Nicolas Cage adventure films.

Zeta-Jones will be a leading series regular in the show alongside Lisette Alexis as the series lead. The new series focuses on a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family's mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

Zeta-Jones will portray Billie, a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own code. She transformed herself from a penniless orphan to a shrewd, stylish businesswoman and adventurer. Billie's used to getting what she wants--and she wants the Pan-American treasure. But not just for the money. This treasure has deeper stakes for her.

Mira Nair is directing and executive producing the series. Production began in February 2022 in Baton Rouge, and wrapped a few months later. The show premieres on Disney+ on 14 December 2022.

I hear that Season 2 of the Netflix series High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America (based on the book of the same name) will come out later this year.

The four-part series is hosted by chef, author and Whetstone Media founder Stephen Satterfield, and is based on the book High on the Hog by Jessica B. Harris, Ph.D., a culinary historian and the author of 13 books related to the African diaspora. Harris is also a frequent contributor to EatingWell.com and was the editor of Migration Meals, a series of articles and recipes showcasing the rich culinary traditions connected to the Great Migration of African Americans in the United States."
