Question O' the Week (Vol. 5)
« on: January 13, 2002, 07:18:00 PM »
Hello again, I'm back with another question. This one is just for the guys. What are your favorite aspects of being male? I mean all aspects; physical, social, sexual, emotional, phsychological, whatever you like. When I asked a friend this question, I got some very interesting answers.......
Thank you and have a good week.

The fact that I do not have an oriface that bleeds one week a month.
Then there's the weird friggin hormones yall have.(Trust me from our end they might be the root of most of our problems.)Then there are breasts(Though we LOVE them.)they might be awkward. Then there is the fact we have a dick(it is so gratifying to wake up with "morning wood".

Yes, I agree with Splicer. Not **111** and all the problems that go with it, not being able to get pregnant and being able to stand up while peeing & being able to aim the stream.

I would also add all the other chemical imbalances and infections that tend to hit the female anatomy.  I'm amazed at how complex her "equipment" is, which makes me happy that I just have a hose and a little internal plumbing...  I also like being able to appreciate mindless cartoon violence and fart jokes...
If you Masturbate 20 times a day, you'll never make it out the door.
You might make it TO the door, but once you squeeze the handle, you'll pass out.

Being able to spend only 15 minutes in the morning getting ready (shower, dressing, eating breakfast), and not having to worry about what outfit I wear for what occasion ... shoot .. I don't even have 'outfits' .. just clothes that I wear that might match in the right light ..

Having grown up on a farm (and not being a large person), I like the [supposed] extra strength of being male.  Comes in handy for moving stuff and wrestling cattle.

I like my deep voice, as among other things it means I can harmonize just about anything without sounding too stupid.

Other than that, I don't know.  Being male may (again, supposedly) increase my credibility as a computer nerd/expert, but that or any other bias towards men necessarily means there is a bias against women.  And I couldn't possibly relish in a though like that.

Similarly, I can't enjoy not being the target of insane media pressure to be as thin as Kate Moss.

I *don't* like being thought of as some sort of deviant because I don't want to hop in the sack with random women

Fortunately, being a man allows me to be attracted to breasts without scorn from society.  Unfortunately, dating anyone with breasts the size I'm really attracted to would cause people to think I'm shallow simply because I had a girlfriend with huge breasts.  "Oh, he just likes her tits," or some such.

The thing I appreciate most is the ability to be able to walk down a street or go to a city alone, without fear. More than once I've had women tell me how afraid they are to do this. It was a freedom I used to take for granted.

Where the freak do you live, Jonny Q? Nebraska?

In the big eastern US cities, such as Baltimore, nobody feels safe walking alone downtown, especially at night.

Or is it you look like Tex Cobb?

That's one dude you don't want to have get in touch with your feminine side.

The best thing about being male is not having penis envy.

Unless you count that one time I say a guy peeing out of the pant leg of his Bermuda shorts without having to lift them much.

1. Confidence in my ability to handle things.

Don't know if this is a male thing, but it seems that it's far more common in the men that I've known than in the women.  It means that I don't worry as much (and **82** more soundly) than the women that I've known, because I'm always sure that I can kick ass as need be.

2. Being judged more by how I behave than how I look.

As long as a guy has nothing particularly wrong with him physically and is "presentable", he's in the running when it comes to attracting a women.  He can even compensate for some physical imperfections with wit and charm or income or status.  It doesn't work that way for women.  A homely guy can still have a decent life, but a homely women...

3. Being the initiator in relations with women.

Even in 2002, it's still pretty much the case that men call women, and women wait to be called by men.

I realy don't think I know if there are any specific aspects about being a man that are particularly advantageous.  Probably the most obvious, although previously mentioned, was physical strength.  I have many times seen women inconvenienced because they can't move 'this' or pick up 'that.'  I believe that many of the other differences between men and women don't matter all that much.  The anatomical parts of the male and the female are burned into our world view, so nobody can walk into this discussion and say one is better than another.  Women menstrate once every twenty-eight days and are readily subject to infections.  Men, on the other hand, have their sensitive equipment out there in front of them, which is a very vulnerable part of us if someone wants to put a knee there.  Brests are another aspect that may trick people.  Realistically, I would not want breasts, because I think they would be too cumbersome.  Besides, I sometimes enjoy being able to walk around without a shirt.

Women are beautiful, but they prefer more time to prepare their appearances.  At the same time, men can get ready in those proverbial fifteen minutes but do appear very utilitarian and draconian compared to women.

There really are no advantages that one side can claim that the other side can't compensate for.  We are very different in too many ways to discuss.  In addition, that's not even counting how the sexes think differently.  Research shows that men have been more proficient with mathematics, while women tend to excel in memorization.  Instead of giving in to the animocity with the battle of the sexes, I would like to not participate in the adversity and appreciate our diversity (given how much I've abstracted the whole subject).

Back to the drawing board,

Kanodin

1. The fact that I can get in a fistfight over a plate of nachos, and afterward call the guy my brother.

If I was a woman, wearing the same dress at a social function would get me 30 of backhanded compliments and cattiness.

2. If a man is taller, more muscular, or whatever, I'll treat him the same as I would someone the same as me.

If a woman has larger breasts, is taller, is better looking, you can hear the FSST! of cattiness.

3. A divorced man is seen by other men as nothing more than a guy who is lucky or unlucky depending on the mood of the guys around him.

A divorced woman is seen as a man-stealing hussy to married women. No matter how short, fat, ugly and bald the married woman's husband is. (Mom, I love you for quotes like this)

In summary, I like the freedom to be comfortable in my own skin.
