Pozole, chicharron, tamales de carne y dulce, tortas de jamon and flan. Typical american stuff. Feliz Navidad y prospero ano nuevo, ya'll.  ;D

I had pozole yesteday at a friend's house! It was great! :D

Tonight I ate alone, but it gets dark and cold so early this time of year that the thought of nuking some leftovers didn't bring the requisite and necessary bit of suppertime joy. So, I cooked the following:

Appetizers:

Small chopped salad with tahini dressing and a cup of curried roast carrot soup that I made yesterday.

Entree:

Filet of Basa and a handful of shrimp, both properly (i.e.: not over-) cooked on top of rice with purple califlower on the side. The fish and rice were topped by a 'chutney' made of the following small diced ingredients quickly sauteed in olive oil:

Red and green onion, capers, crimini mushrooms, oil-cured black olives, preserved lemon, Korean pickled garlic and red bell pepper.

Wine:

A sensibly priced but very drinkable Pinot Grigio Venezia (2011 from Italy).

The whole thing took maybe 40 minutes start-to-finish, including the time needed to defrost the fish and shrimp under running water. For a change, I actually have stuff for dessert in the house, but I'll probably just have another glass of wine instead. ;)

Geeez Palomine, if I were served any of the dishes you fix in a restaurant setting, I would be glad to pay the bill! They look really good...

It's a snowy day for me and I have a hankerin' for makin' some turkey chili to munch on for the next several...        later--->Triumph

Seeing these menus that Goober has posted reminds when I was deployed to Japan or any place in which english is not the native language and many of the inhabitants would wear hilareous T-shirts. You would see grandmothers wearing T-shirts that would say things like " I take it deep and swallow " , " I've got a hairy pussy "  and such. Ah, mammaries ...ur .... memories.  ;D

A petite filet with baked potato and leaf spinach. It'd have been less petite if I hadn't stolen a third of it for breakfast. ;)

The problem I see in that meal is that petite filet. Come on man, anything smaller than 24 oz is just a starter. If a significant amount of cow ain't consumed in one sitting yer wastin' yer time, pardner !  ;) ;D

I have somewhat exotic body modding plans for myself for RL ;)
I do the 'Bad Kitty' morphs, here and elsewhere.
(I'm not a huge "morph-request" person, I spend a loooong time on them, and I do them primarily for my own enjoyment. Its hard enough to find time to do all the morphs i want to do)

I had this frozen block of seafood stock in my freezer for a while... made months ago from a big pot of fish bones, shrimp tails, veggies, etc... all cooked down and then filtered til only a concentrated, deep golden essence remained. Cold here tonight (by our standards) so I rescued that block from where the Ice King had been keeping it prisoner all this time (mistaking it for Soup Stock Princess no doubt ;)) and put it in a pot, to which were eventually added sherry, cream, black pepper and chopped cilantro (I didn't have any Tarragon or Dill in the house). Separately, I sauteed some shrimps in butter and added them to the soup when they were 90% cooked.

The result was a fantastic seafood bisque... I had to force myself to leave some for tomorrow so I can enjoy leftovers. ;)
