... Got the results of the CT scan and it showed no signs of cancer spreading so that was a very big relief. Wednesday morning I have a PET Scan. Not really sure but it is just a different way of looking at the same things i guess.
Well, I'm sure by now you know what a PET scan is. When the doctor treating my mother proposed doing one she asked what a PET scan was since like you she had a CT scan a short time before. Before her doctor could answer, smart-ass nerd that I am, I told her a CT is a fancy x-ray where you're bombard with x-rays to take multiple pictures, and a PET scan is where they light you up like a Christmas tree to get a full color portrait. Her doctor kind of laughed at that, but said it was as good an explanation as any.
But the main lesson to learn from all this if nothing else, is it never hurts to get a second opinion, if there is any question with the diagnose, or before any major treatment is performed, especially if there was a question with the diagnose in the first place. Anyway I'll get off my soap box now.
Just thought I would add to this post that I just had my 1-year checkup. Cancer free! I'm a happy camper today!!!
I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Now just stay that way for at least the next four years and the doctors will be able to declare you cured.
