Man, how did I manage to miss this thread?
I really hope they look decently good. She'll have that vertical scar from the nipple down and more scarring around the areola. With all new advances in medicine one would expect better skin healing procedures.
Scarring is still one of the things which falls under "there ain't no magic bananas". Doesn't matter whether you fall and scrape your knee, whether you've got stretch marks (a male friend from many years ago had stretch marks on his back, and he was of average proportions) or whether a scalpel does a clean cut. Once the skin has been compromised, it's not a question of whether there will be a scar, it becomes a question of the quality of how the scar turns out.
Location is also a factor. For example, incisions down the center of the chest (eg, for cardiac work) tend to remain pretty visible, whereas scarring for breast augmentations/reductions generally turn out well. (Not always the case, as we all know.) When cherri and I were doing the pre-op consult thing, we got to see one surgeon's handiwork on one patient/employee, who had had a gastric bypass, and subsequently a full tummy tuck and breast augmentation with anchor lift. The boob scars were very fine lines, so I was greatly relieved to get this sort of reassurance.
Scarring also varies from individual to individual. Plus one option is micropigmentation to help hide the scar (think of it as a sort of crude Photoshop for actual skin

).
