Remember the line from The Simpsons about Mr. Burns' diseases competing and neutralizing each other's effects, thus keeping him alive?:

Since the Super-Soldier Serum which he was exposed to took him to the peak of human health, I imagine that polio wouldn't get a look in. But of course he remembers its ravages:

Steve Rogers: "Well, things aren't so bad. Food's a lot better; we used to boil everything. No polio is good. Internet, so helpful. I've been reading that a lot trying to catch up."

Come to think of it: just how careless was Dr. Abraham Erskine? Imagine having found the formula to the Super-Soldier Serum, tried it, and it works...but then you get assassinated immediately after you proved it worked...and you never bothered to write it down so your employers could replicate the formula for later? Even Coca-Cola has multiple copies of their formula stashed away. Way to go, Einstein.

Oh, it's even worse than that.  Erskine was supposed to be doing this project for the US government, remember?  You think the US government is going to give a scientist carte blanche to do research like this without a ton of oversight and reporting?  His work and notes would have been done up in triplicate and kept in multiple locations.  Erskine could have got away with it if he was a complete independent, but there's no way what actually happened would have happened in real life.

And if there's any movie I'd want to see, it would be the one where Steve Rogers has to interact with the Red Skull again on Vormir...

To tell you the truth, though I loved Infinity War and Endgame, the part after when Steve supposedly took the stones back, then lived his life out with Peggy, I'm trying to ignore even happened.  Just too much stupidity involved in making the decision to do it that way.

I disagree. The Infinity Saga was basically the interwoven story arcs of two men: Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.

Stark was initially the self-centered glory hound who "would never make the sacrifice play," yet who ended up making the ultimate sacrifice.

Rogers was initially the selfless man who was always caring about everyone else but himself, and who decided to "try some of that life Tony was telling me to get."

Stark's last (fully-audible) words in his first outing were the same as his last (fully-audible) words in his last outing: "I am Iron Man."

Steve's last words in Captain America: The First Avenger ("I had a date.") were made real by the last scene in Endgame: him and his best gal slow-dancing to "It's Been a Long, Long Time."

All in all it was a fitting coda to a decade-plus worth of films. And I liked it.

Could you imagine Tom Hiddleston as Thor? Tom Cruise as Tony Stark/Iron Man? Emily Blunt as Peggy Carter, or as Natasha Romanov/Black Widow?

No, neither could I.

But they all almost happened.

I never would have watched Iron Man if Tom Cruise was in it.  I would have written off every Marvel movie afterwards if they were willing to cast him.

I believe Tom Cruise is only 5'7" - 5'8" tall so no way he could have been Tony Stark, certainly not the Tony Stark I remembered from the comic books from the 60's and 70's when I used to read them then. He might have been ok as the Ant Man though.
