One thing about luxury cars of the 1930's was the fact that they were all custom made. They may share the frame and the drivetrain with their corporate siblings, but their bodies were quite often unique to each car. Especially since the 1930's was a time of bad economic times, only the super-rich could buy such cars. Not very many were sold. Some luxury brands, like Duesenberg, didn't survive the 1930's. Others like Cadillac, survived because General Motors was big enough to survive.

The 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye was an old fashion car which recalled the era of the muscle cars of the late 60s and early 70s but thanks to newer and modern technology, it had up to 797 horsepower in its supercharged engine and could go over 200 Miles Per Hour even though it is a heavy sedan. Unfortunately, due to emission and mileage federal standards, Chrysler killed it off.

The last of the true dinosaur sized Chevrolet Impalas, this 1976 model two door fastback was downsized in 1977 model to meet pollution and mileage standards set by the Federal Government. My first car was a 1968 Impala I bought in 1974 and it was smaller, not by much, than this model. Unfortunately, GM has killed off the Impala. It was the number one seller in the USA back in the 60's when you could get a roomy car without paying the price of a Cadillac for example.

A very popular car from the late 70's until the mid 80's was the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and I remember in the early 80's it was the most popular car in the USA. This is the 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Broughman. It was a mid-sized sedan and it was quite nice. I remember my Uncle Grady, from my mother's side of the family, was an Oldsmobile man.

In 1912, a truly revolutionary vehicle appeared on scene when Charles Kettering of Cadillac introduced the world's first car with an electric starter which made it possible for people to safely start their vehicles without the danger of manually starting them with a hand crank. This is the Cadillac Model 30. Yeah, the technology was new so it still had the hand crank just in case.
