I love this type of architecture.  The whole building is great to look at, but it's wonderful the way they put awesome tops on the buildings that aren't even visible to 99% of the people.  It shows how architects and builders in those days were as much artists as they were artisans.

This is/was a Victorian era hotel in Dallas, Texas.

Inside the grounds of the MGM Grand hotel and casino, there is the MGM mansion, which is usually for the super-rich gamblers, aka whales, and if they gamble 50 Million Dollars per day, they get to stay as a comp, complimentary, and it's free for them. Of course, most lose lots of money which is good for the casino.

Opened in 1956 and demolished in 2016, the Riviera Hotel and Casino was an icon of the strip and opened when the Mob dominated the town. If you ever see the original Oceans 11 movie starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, this was one of the places they robbed. With the exception of the Flamingo, all the properties in the movie are gone. They were still around when I moved here in Vegas back in 1995. The Tropicana was imploded last week, and I was saddened to see it go. If you are looking for old buildings that have been opened for 80 to 110 years, you gotta go to Downtown Vegas. On The Strip, blowing up properties is common.

Built in 1922 by Walter Scott, who lived in it until he passed away in 1954, if you visit Death Valley in California, this is known as Scotty's Castle and it is now owned by the state and they give tours of it, and it still has its original furnishings and it is like going back to those days. Do visit. This time of the year Death Valley isn't so hot like in the middle of Summer. I have visited it since it's only a few hours drive from Las Vegas. Death Valley has the lowest point in North America and the highest mountain, Mt Whitney, the highest of the 48 states, are within sight of each other.
